    It uses the VSOP87 planetary series and the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa to compute exact planetary positions from your date, time and place of birth — giving the ascendant, signs, navamsha, the sixteen vargas, nakshatra, Vimshottari dasha and detailed predictions.
    What information is needed? ＋
    Date of birth (day, month, year), time of birth (hour and minute) and place of birth (city, or coordinates). The more exact the birth time, the more reliable the ascendant and the dashas.
    Is this calculation accurate? ＋
    Yes. It uses the internationally recognised VSOP87D solar-system model; the results are verified against independent professional astrology software — and against Swiss Ephemeris on 401 dates between 1950 and 2050, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn differ by less than 6 arcseconds, with the largest difference for Mercury at 75 arcseconds — every rashi and nakshatra agrees. The Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa is also applied according to the latest IAU value.

    How do I choose the place of birth — can I use GPS? ＋

    How is the rashi determined from the date of birth? ＋
    The birth rashi is the sign the Moon was in at the moment of birth. The Moon crosses one sign in about two and a quarter days, so determining the rashi from the date of birth alone is not always correct — the sign can change within that very day. Give the date, time and place of birth and this page determines and shows the birth rashi, nakshatra and lagna online, free of charge; for the lagna, both the time and the place of birth are needed.
