Karkat Sankranti 2027 — two almanacs, two dates?
- Drik Siddhanta
- 17 July 2027, Saturday
Many almanacs commonly used in West Bengal follow Surya Siddhanta — the mean motion of the planets. MyAstrology follows the Drik Siddhanta — their true apparent positions. The moment of the Sankranti therefore differs by a few hours, and the day of a solar festival can shift by one. Every date on this page follows the Drik Siddhanta. Both traditions are widely kept in West Bengal — which one to follow is a matter of family and local custom.
Why the two almanacs differ, and why eclipse times still match in every panjika — read the full explanation.
